Switzerland: mandatory quarantine for those arriving from four regions of Italy

[ad_1]

Switzerland has included three other Italian regions on its coronavirus “blacklist”: they are Veneto. Campania and Sardinia, which are added to Liguria. Anyone entering Switzerland from these territories must put themselves in fiduciary quarantine. The Berne Ministry of Health has updated, as it does regularly, the list of regions and states on which travel restrictions are imposed. The list gets longer from week to week and now includes entire states of the EU (including Spain, Great Britain, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Hungary and Belgium) or outside the EU (United States, Canada, Brazil, India, Israel). In other cases, the quarantine obligation is introduced only for individual regions (as in the Italian case). Therefore, mandatory confinement only refers (with reference to the Germany) coming from Berlin and Hamburg, or coming from Paris, the French Riviera, Normandy, Brittany (in relation to France).

Switzerland introduces these self-protection measures on the basis of a strictly mathematical criterion: if in a given territory the number of Covid cases every 100,000 inhabitants goes above 60, the quarantine “yellow light” turns off. Liguria, the first Italian region to finish on the list, had protested to the Swiss consular authorities regarding the excessive restriction (an outbreak had been identified only in the province of La Spezia) but without success. The Confederacy had not said it was willing to deviate from its arithmetic judgment.
