“Only thieves and terrorists hide their faces,” says the mayor of the municipality of the province of Viterbo.

The mayor of Sutri, Vittorio Sgarbi, has issued an ordinance that provides for a fine for those who wear a mask “unnecessarily” in the municipality of Viterbo. “Only thieves and terrorists hide their faces,” says the mayor, in a note (CORONAVIRUS: ALL UPDATES LIVE – THE EMERGENCY IN LAZIO).

Ordinance

“In compliance with the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers – establishes the ordinance – the use of the mask in the City of Sutri is prohibited outdoors for obvious health reasons and indoors, except in the event of a meeting, from the 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., as expressly indicated by the Dpcm of August 16, 2020, which protects against the risk of nightclubs and not coexistence, which requires sitting at the table and eating without a mask. In all other cases – says the ordinance -, who will be having seen wearing the mask, will be fined in accordance with Law 533/1977 on public order, which, in its article 2, establishes that the face cannot be disguised. This rule, also with regard to to masks, it is reinforced with Decree Law 155 /. 2005 “.

“Ridiculous forms of ostentation

“On the other hand – observes the mayor – the use of the mask in public places, except for employees, appears in clear contrast to the time spent on nutrition that involves eating without a mask.” Therefore, it seems contradictory, Sgarbi argues, “that after eating without a mask you get up from the table and put it on. They are ridiculous forms of ostentation that have nothing to do with health needs.”
