Three names, none of which entered the suspect register. In the investigation by the Perugia prosecutor and the Guardia di Finanza on the farce examination to allow the gunman Suárez to obtain the attestation of knowledge of the Italian language and thus be able to apply for citizenship, the presence of characters linked to the world of the Juve. So not only the director of the technical area of the bianconeri Fabio Paratici who was interested – as some of the suspects say in the interceptions – in the question of questioning the Uruguayan forward.
The investigation documents reveal at least two other subjects close to or linked to Juventus who have been involved in some way – with different roles – in the matter. The first is the lawyer Maria Turco, from the Chiappero study, who followed the entire process and was in contact with both Suárez and the University for Foreigners of Perugia. The other new name is Federico Cherubini, an enfant prodige who made the great leap from Foligno and landed at Juve, much desired by Paratici and Marotta who were already looking for him at the time they were at Sampdoria. Cherubini today Head of the football team and technical areas in the practice of Paratici’s right arm. What does this have to do with research? It was he, we learned in Turin, who called the rector of the state university of Perugia Maurizio Oliviero by virtue of an old acquaintance to ask him for information about the possibility of taking the Italian exam in Perugia in Suárez. He asked for bureaucratic information, according to sources in Turin.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office investigates
The question that fans want an answer for just one: what is Juventus risking? Nothing at the moment. The FIGC Federal Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the case linked to Luis Suárez and the prosecutor’s number one, Giuseppe Chin, also requested the investigation documents from the Ordinary Judicial Power of Perugia where the interrogation took place. The reconstruction of history, according to Juve, remains simple: the university was asked for information, then the club changed the objectives of the market. Above all, Suárez is not a Juventus player. Later, if the federal investigation is a necessary act, the situation could get complicated, in the case of the participation of a Juventus cardholder or the intervention of the club. For this reason, sports justice – which lives by principles and rules different from the ordinary one – must weigh the possible behavior of the director of the technical area, Fabio Paratici and di Cherubini. A criminal presentation could also correspond to a sports conviction, which has always followed autonomous paths. Of course, right now we are thinking at least partially in the dark.
New rules
After the storm in Passaportopoli in 2001 (several players were disqualified and seven teams were punished with maximum fines), the FIGC code established a planned offense. by article 32, paragraph 7: La societ nonch to its executives, tesserati, soci and no soci de cui al arte. 2, paragraph 2, who directly carry out or attempt to carry out or allow others to carry out acts aimed at obtaining false or otherwise altered citizenship certificates or documents to circumvent the rules on entry into Italy and the registration of non-Italian players the EU, are liable by applying the sanctions mentioned in paragraphs 8 and 9 below. What are the penalties? They vary according to severity. They range from fines for strict liability, to direct liability with penalties, to relegation to last place or exclusion from the championship.
The hypothesis
Not automatically that we enter the field of article 32, at least not in its entirety. Could be disputed the lack of loyalty and at that moment everything would end in a fine. But at the moment we are still in the field of hypotheses. The infractions are yet to be proven and even if they were not mentioned, the club is responsible.
