After sun saturday Varese area expects new snow to low altitudes at night between Sunday 27 and Monday 28 December.
The cold air of Arctic origin that has been affecting the northern part of the Peninsula for days and a new Atlantic disturbance from France will determine heavy snowfall down to low altitudes in much of northern Italy. In the afternoon of Sunday 27 there will be a rapid increase in cloudiness, but it will remain dry until late at night.
The first rain is expected from 10pm on Sunday., accompanied by the drop in temperatures. The snowfalls will be concentrated mainly between 4 and 5 and between 9 and 10 on Monday with rains of light to moderate intensity.
The snow in Varese will continue to fall throughout Monday morning. and then stop in the afternoon. In the low areas, accumulations between 10 and 20 cm are expected, 20-30 cm in the mountain belt, up to 50-60 cm in the mountains.
Bad weather will resume on the morning of Tuesday 29, with widespread rainfall and snow to low altitudes in the Alps, Pre-Alps and hills.
To cope with the weather situation, Autostrade per l’Italia will use around 800 vehicles and around 1200 resources from Sunday in snow operations along approximately 1,000 kilometers of roads between Liguria, Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia, Veneto and Friuli.
