Snowfall is expected in mountainous areas overnight between December 25 and 26. Lamma alert between Lunigiana, Lucca, Pistoia, Arezzo, Mugello

FLORENCE – There is a chance that 2020 will turn into a “White Christmas”: in the next few hours a sharp drop in temperatures combined with rain will bring snow even at low altitudes, 400-600 meters above sea level. The Region has issued a yellow alert for the risk of snow between Christmas and San Esteban, from the afternoon of December 25 to the morning of December 26.

Snowflakes could fall in six Tuscan provinces, Massa Carrara, Lucca, Pistoia, Florence and Arezzo, snow that, as mentioned, could also reach mountainous altitudes especially in the northwestern areas of Tuscany, hence Lunigiana and Garfagnana.

But let’s go into detail, on Friday December 25 the snow will fall on the Apennines at around 800-1000 meters up to an altitude of 500 in the Upper Mugello. On the 26th, however, snow is expected in the interior areas even at 400 meters.
