At least four people were reportedly injured, three of them seriously, in a shooting in front of a gate in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district. Local media reported this, citing reports from the Berlin police. Numerous officers were deployed to search for those involved in the shooting. A police helicopter was also used. An injured man rescued from a canal

The crime scene, reports the German news agency Dpa, is at the entrance to a door on Stresemannstrasse, near the headquarters of the Social Democratic Party SPD. Three of the wounded were rescued there. Another injured man was rescued from the nearby Landwehr Canal. According to the police, the man jumped into the water on his own and was reportedly injured in the leg. Around the Möckernbrücke metro station, which is directly on the Landwehr canal, police searched the brush on the shore with flashlights.

The reason is still unknown

In the first moments after the confrontation, the police could not provide information on the motive of the shooters. In Berlin, writes German television Zdf on its website, there are frequent clashes between individual groups or families. More recently, there was an assault on a ground floor apartment and a car attack in Kreuzberg where a 29-year-old man was shot.
