Another attack in the Mercato Nuovo area of Vicenza. A 25-year-old bully took aim a 73-year-old man, attacking him with punches and kicks. The man had rushed to the municipal market parking lot where the assailant was arguing violently with a girl, who later turned out to be his girlfriend.
The seriously injured old man is hospitalized in San Bortolo with a fractured femur and it is feared that the kicks to the head have caused further head injuries.
The episode took place yesterday afternoon, around 5.30 pm in the municipal market square for fruits and vegetables. The attacker hit the man who wanted to intervene to defuse the fight between the young couple. He first punched him, and after the 73-year-old fell to the ground, he started kicking him in the head as well. Then the 25-year-old went on a bicycle with the woman.
The victim, who was left on the ground, was rescued by passersby while the police, arriving at the scene, began the search to track down the aggressor. The perpetrator of the beating, FAA (the initials) an Italian of Hungarian origin, already known to the police, was arrested by the police shortly afterwards in Viale Roma. The charge is aggravated injury.
