The relationship between Maria Paola and Ciro Her family did not love her much in a dilapidated neighborhood known for drug trafficking, child abuse and other illicit activities.

Antonio, not happy to see his sister on the ground lifeless, caught up with Ciro and hit him. Then, remembered by the screams of the same trans who begged him to see how his sister was, Antonio calmed down and tried to help the girl. But there was nothing more to do.

The boy was immediately detained by the police and motivated his gesture with other chilling words: “I did shit. I did not want to kill anyone, but give a lesson to my sister and especially the one there who “infected” my sister who has always been “normal”». He is now in prison for murder and private violence compounded by homophobia.

Daniela Lourdes Falanga, a transgender woman and an important figure in the Italian LGBTI + movement, wrote on Facebook:

“In Caivano one of the most brutal stories of gender violence is being written. It is about Ciro and Maria Paola. Ciro is a trans man, she is his girlfriend. They are on the move and are rammed by their brother. The girl dies. Ciro is in the hospital and he is not feeling well.

Ciro’s mother screams her pain on Facebook and accuses Maria Paola’s brother of deliberately committing murder because she couldn’t bear her sister dating a trans man. The brother will say that the sister had been “infected” and that he wanted to free her.

Two points together that come to clarify and define what we could indicate as feminicide and transphobia. Meanwhile, a terrible drama is consumed, in the worst denial, and Ciro in this unprecedented violence also suffers the condemnation of the ignorance of the pseudo-journalists and the silence of the press. He is not described as Cyrus, but as the dead girl’s companion.

If we want to understand what it means to have a law against homolesbobitrasphobia, this is one of the most explicit cases.
