In Sutri, a municipality in the Viterbo area, anyone who wears a mask unnecessarily will be fined: an order from Vittorio Sgarbi, who is the mayor of the city of Tuscia, provides for this. “Only thieves and terrorists hide their faces,” he said in a statement.

“In compliance with the Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers – establishes the ordinance – the use of the mask in the City of Sutri is prohibited outdoors for obvious health reasons and indoors, except in the event of a meeting, from the 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., as specifically indicated by the Dpcm of August 16, 2020, which protects against the risk of nightclubs and not coexistence, which requires sitting at the table and eating without a mask. In all the others In cases, those who are seen wearing a mask will be fined in relation to Law 533/1977 on Public Order, which in its article 2 establishes that the face cannot be masked: ‘The use of protective helmets, or any other means that may hinder the recognition of the person, in a public place or open to the public, without justified reason. In any case, the aforementioned use is prohibited on the occasion of events that take place in a public place or open to the public, except those of character sporting interest that such use implies … ‘. This regulation, also in reference to masks, is reinforced by Decree Law 155/2005 ”.

“On the other hand – observes Sgarbi – the use of the mask in public places, except for employees, appears in clear contrast with the time spent on nutrition that involves eating food without a mask. Therefore, it seems contradictory that after eating without a mask you get up from the table and put it on. They are ridiculous forms of ostentation that have nothing to do with health needs ”.
