12.10 – Serious accident this morning on the road between Santa Ninfa and Castelvetrano. A bus overturned: a doctor and a health worker died.
The vehicle was carrying around 15 people on board, including several health workers working at the Marsala hospital. Some passengers were asleep at the time of impact. The carabinieri, the 118 health workers and the firefighters intervened in the act.
The bus rolled over after a collision with a car. There are two dead, a doctor and a health worker, and several injured, one of whom is in serious condition.
The deceased motorist worked in the emergency territorial garrison in Santa Ninfa and had worked the night shift. Leonardo Denaro, born in 1954, is a doctor from Castelvetrano.
A bus passenger also died and was taken to hospital after his injuries. The victim, IG, a 45-year-old nurse from Marsala, was returning to her city after working in Palermo.
The collision occurred between a Salemi bus connecting Palermo and Marsala and a Ford Fiesta. As learned, the driver tried to avoid the collision, but the vehicle overturned during the maneuver. Highway 119, at kilometer 51,800, is closed to traffic in both directions.
11.00 – The death toll from the serious accident this morning is two. One of the bus passengers also died. Two other passengers are in very serious condition.
This is a first reconstruction of the dynamics of the accident: the bus and the car were moving in opposite directions along the provincial road that connects Santa Ninfa with Castelvetrano. The Ford Fiesta would have suffered a normal overtaking, immediately after the driver lost control of the vehicle that collided with the bus. Witnesses say that everything happened very quickly and that the bus would have found itself suddenly, with no room for maneuver, with the car on top of it. In any case, the carabinieri are investigating the entire dynamics collecting the testimonies.
10.20 – A man from Castelvetrano, LD, born in 1954, was the victim of the accident that occurred this morning at the Santa Ninfa crossing between an Autoservizi Salemi bus and a Fordo Fiesta. The man was driving the car that collided with the bus. It was a head-on collision.
The bus was carrying 14 passengers, plus the driver. Grave one of the passengers, was trapped between the sheets. The others reported injuries and bruises and were taken to hospital. The Mazara and Castelvetrano firefighters intervened to free the passengers
