Sense in Agnano and Pozzuoli. No harm to people or things

An earthquake was felt in Pozzuoli at 1:31 p.m. It is a small seismic event, of magnitude 1.3, with the epicenter of the southeast edge of the Solfatara crater, 1 kilometer deep, although clearly felt by the population in the Agnano area and part of the Fuorigrotta district and in the municipality of Pozzuoli. In recent days there had been other tremors in the area, accompanied by roars clearly felt by the resident population. On December 19, a first crash was followed by others, always of a minor nature in the following hours. The sensors of the Vesuvian Observatory had registered new earthquakes felt by the population as of 4.13 in the morning. The most energetic of the tremors, of magnitude 2.3 and 1.7 km deep, had its epicenter in the Campi Flegrei area (north of the city of Naples) at a depth of about 2.23 km in the area covered between the Solfatara and the Accademia.

In this sense, the director of the Vesuvian Observatory, Francesca Bianco, interviewed by Fanpage.it, explained that he was not alarmed and that at the moment there will be no reclassification of the seismic alert in the area:

“Since 2006, the Campi Flegrei have grown by approximately 70 centimeters. Since September of this year the lifting speed has been one centimeter per month, with the maximum lift in the Rione Terra area. This year there was also a small increase in seismicity, with magnitudes between 0 and 1. But for now I can assure everyone that there are no elements to imagine an imminent volcanic eruption in the next few days ”.
