Weather: second half of DECEMBER, risk of FREEZE WAVE just for HOLIDAYS? OFFICIAL PROJECTIONS until CHRISTMAS
Second half of DECEMBER: possible frost wave before ChristmasThe second half of December could be quite hectic and even give us a wave of frost just around the time of the holidays. This is confirmed by the latest updates available to us.
Let’s make the point by analyzing the official projections until Christmas.
After a temporary anticyclonic comeback expected from Sunday the 13th and for most of the following week, with the consequent greater stability in our country, our attention is focused on the previous days. Christmas. Eyes on in particular between Scandinavia and Russia where, due to the particularly cold climatic conditions of this first part of winter (remember that the cold season, from a meteorological point of view, began on December 1, ed), has formed an imposing “frozen lake“, filled with polar air that could slide into Eastern Europe first and then in the direction of italy, thus giving way to afairly intense frost wave.
At the moment, given the still quite high temporal distance, it is only a hypothesis and as such it must be considered, but having said that, it must be said that for several days the main international long-term models, in this case the American GFS, They lean towards this type of configuration.
What would be the consequences for Italy?? – If everything were confirmed, the influx of icy air from northeast Europe could favor the formation, in the Mediterranean basin, of cyclonic vortices continuously fed by these cold currents, which would lead to a winter phase very dynamic, with the possibility of snow at very low altitude, even to the plain (as we have already had the opportunity to experience in this month of December) in the period between Christmas me New Year.
In the next few days we will try to understand if this system will be confirmed or not. More updates coming soon.
