The president of the national association of principals, Antonello Giannelli, raises many doubts about the return to school on January 7.

It is an irregular situation. There are provinces where agreements have been made while also listening to the school, and the prefects’ plans work. Others like Rome where the school was not listened to. But let me start by saying that, in principle, it was a good idea not to make a national measure valid in the past for all situations, but to decide province by province how to proceed.”.

This is one of the central themes that Giannelli addresses in his interview with Corriere della Sera.

The president of the AP also speaks a lot and above all about the difficulties of the students: “I wonder why they only charge the school for stiffness and delays in adapting the transportation system. The start time of other work activities could have been staggered”.

In fact, Giannelli explains, “half of Italian high school students attend a technical or vocational institute, at least 6 hours a day. The organization of your life will be altered. From 10 to 16, we take half an hour to eat a sandwich. They leave at 4.30 in the afternoon, take a bus or a train, come home hungry at six in the afternoon. What time will they do their homework? At 21….

For this reason, “Teaching must take this schedule change into account. Tasks, I would say there will be few. Maybe if we had stayed in a double shift between 8 and 9, these problems could have been solved better”.

Everyone wants the school to attend again, but I think it is wrong to make the school pay this price.Giannelli added.

Schedule problems for teachers too

It is inevitable that even for teachers times in this way will have to change and Giannelli himself recalled this.

In the note of December 9, the Ministry of Education specified, based on the indications of the Dpcm of December 3, that “it is necessary to modulate the ATA Staff Work Plan, the times of educational activities for teachers and students, as well as administrative offices, taking into account the school attendance of 75% of the school population”.

Based on the planned plan, we will start with 50% of the lessons in person, at least, only to increase in the following weeks.
