The union organizations Flc Cgil, Cisl Scuola, Uil Scuola Rua, Snals Confsal and Gilda Unams will participate in the event organized by the Commission ‘Priority to school’ that will be held on Saturday, September 26 in Rome
The unions announce this in a joint note.
We went down to the square Reaffirm the central and priority role of the school and knowledge as a condition for the growth of the country and denounce the delays and uncertainties that accompany the beginning of the school year, risking compromising its reopening in presence and safety, the main objective of union action carried out in the prolonged emergency phase “.
“The square of September 26 will see us together with the workers, with the students, the families, the citizens, to affirm and defend our idea of school, constitutional body and pillar of democracy, in which the credibility and future of the entire country are at stake ”, explain the abbreviations of the note, in which they remember how,“ from last spring they identified priorities and needs for the restart, indicated solutions and requested investments in terms of personnel, spaces, services related to the right to education, such as transportation and dining rooms, considering as a priority investment in professional resources that the school especially needs ”.
“The mobilization and proposal, from the June 8 strike to the participation in the drafting of security protocols, have characterized the unitary union action of these months; this is not accompanied by a similar commitment and assumption of responsibility on the part of the government and the Ministry of Education. But the country cannot afford to restart with a smaller training offer, due to delays and insufficient resources. We need a change of course in public policies, which is decidedly oriented in support of development through focused options of strong investment in strategic sectors, starting with education and training, essential factors for the strengthening of the democratic fabric and the recovery of the country ” .
“The crisis caused by the pandemic – continue note – makes even more essential a radical change in the socio-economic-political paradigm, whose knowledge has the task of guiding the direction of active citizenship, understood as the ability to participate in transformation processes, taking as the basis of the action are the values of democracy, ecological sustainability and peace. Urgent measures are needed to immediately guarantee everyone the right to education, to work, to the health and, at the same time, investments to improve the public education system, raise levels of knowledge, strengthen and expand the right to education and training; It is time to take courageous decisions to combat inequality, dispersion and precariousness, allocating a substantial part of the funds of the ‘next generation of the EU’, the so-called Recovery Fund, to places where the ‘next generations’ will have to grow and develop “.
