Is it possible to host the family for dinner? Can I go on vacation to another region? And will it be the traditional Christmas Eve mass at midnight? From shopping to restaurants, from schools to trips abroad, the new rules for a December different from all others arrive with the next dpcm. Here, in light of what has emerged so far, what the rules might be for this end of 2020.
SCHOOL – All in class from January 7. This is the prevailing orientation in the government, before the launch of the new dpcm with anti-contagion measures from Covid. DINNER AND FIREWORKS – In the next dpcm, the curfew should be maintained for all regions from 10 pm to 6 am At the moment, the line of a more permissive curfew for the eve of major holidays, Christmas and New Years seems not to have passed . Compared to traditional dinners, as it is not possible to impose obligations in private places, it is not excluded that we limit ourselves to recommendations: no more than six at the table is the general indication of the last days. Of course, the ‘recommended’ diners are close relatives and partners.
TRAVEL AND TRAVEL – In the next dpcm, apparently, the blocking of mobility between the Regions should also apply to the ‘yellow’, with the exclusion, however, of the possibility of residents returning home. However, the government is examining possible exceptions: they could apply, for example, to those who live in a region other than their residence, or for some cases of family reunification. In any case, however, the start date of the stopover to travel between the Regions must start from a date yet to be defined but after December 4, when the new dpcm will come into force. For the orange and red regions the current regulations must be maintained: in the red regions it is forbidden to even move from one municipality to another, while for the orange regions the travel border is the regional one. Finally, for those who will return from abroad during the Christmas period, a 15-day quarantine is expected. The question remains whether or not second homes can be reached. For skiing, however, everything was postponed until after the holidays, therefore mid-January.
SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS – To encourage Christmas shopping, it is planned to extend the opening hours of the stores in the yellow zone until 9:00 p.m., provided that this allows respecting the curfew that begins at 10:00 p.m. For all other areas, however, the ‘color’ rules must remain in effect. , with stores closed in red. As for the restaurants in the yellow areas, they must remain closed at 6 pm, with a total lockdown however at Christmas and San Esteban. Moving on to the orange and red regions, bars and restaurants must be closed all day.
DOUGH – The president of the Higher Health Council Franco Locatelli has also confirmed today that it will be a different Christmas than usual. And this could also apply to the faithful: the traditional midnight Masses could be brought forward. In this regard, a dialogue and discussion is taking place with the IEC, which appears to be well disposed. The hypothesis is concrete if we take into account that the last two Popes, Benedict and Francisco, had already anticipated their solemn Christmas celebrations at 10 pm and 9:30 pm. Nor is it excluded that the number of celebrations during the day can be increased to avoid meetings.
THE SCHOOL – The idea of postponing the reopening of secondary schools to January 7 seems prevalent, despite the attempt by Education Minister Lucía Azzolina to open them in December.
