As of Monday, the classrooms will continue to be emptied: the rules of the new decree law and the new color changes will force millions of students to distance education. In fact, the increase in new infections is very worrying (today the new positives were almost 28 thousand).

The epidemic in Italy is growing strongly, while in other European countries it is declining. This is the sixth week in a row that the curve is growing. Only in Umbria and Bolzano can we see a decrease, but here the measures take weeks ”. This is the alarm that the president of the Higher Institute of Health, Silvio Brusaferro, raised during the press conference on the analysis of data from the regional monitoring of the control room.

The new ordinances to be signed by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza foresee the passage in the red zone for the Regions Emilia Romagna, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Lazio, Lombardy, Marche, Piedmont, Puglia, Veneto and the autonomous province of Trento that are added to Campania and Molise that remain in the red zone.

Schools closed: infections are on the rise, dad is on. The updated map region by region

But the government has already moved and today approved a new decree law: From Monday, March 15 to April 6, Regions with a weekly number of cases greater than 250 per 100,000 inhabitants will automatically go to the red zone. For the Easter holidays, from April 3-5, the measures provided for the red zone will be applied throughout the national territory. In addition, from March 15 to April 2, 2021 and April 6, 2021, In the Regions whose territories are located in the yellow zone, the measures established for the orange zone are applied..

Between the new restrictive measures and the new ordinances of the Ministry of Health, therefore, practically in the whole of Italy, almost all students will have to follow the lessons from a distance: face-to-face teaching will continue in force in the orange areas, except for local restrictive measures . But many already ask for some “exceptions”: among them also the Undersecretary of Education Barbara Floridia who points out that the new framework would lead to the situation that 9 out of 10 students would stay at home. “A situation that would be the worst since the national shutdown a year ago,” says Floridia. That is why, according to the senator of the Five Star Movement “Some rules need to be revised. I am referring in particular to the closures of kindergartens, kindergartens and primary schools. At least these should also remain open in the areas red so as not to burden the emergency of our children and not to put Italian families in serious difficulties “.

However, there are no doubts for the governor of Veneto, Luca Zaia: “Schools of all grade levels must remain closed in the red areas.“He said at the press conference.

In the red zone, however, the students with disabilities and special educational needs Not only will they be able to attend school in person, but they will also be able to be accompanied by a group of classmates who will participate in the classroom lessons on a rotating basis. This is what is foreseen in the note of March 12 that the Ministry published on the afternoon of March 12.

It should also be noted that in recent weeks many have gradually abandoned the concept of “safe school“At the time of the covid. Especially the variants have forced us to look at the school from another perspective.

The mathematician was among the first against the school in the presence Sebastiani: “In the second half of February we were already witnessing the results of the face-to-face lessons, with intensive care that will increase more in the regions that first reopened the classrooms”.

The one who had to take a step back from the past was the immunologist Antonella Viola: “School is a place at risk “, Viola explains why “It is impossible to keep children at a distance with a properly fitted mask and the classes are too large. With this new contagious variant, it is better to close schools“.

And in the front vaccine At the moment it cannot be said that we are moving fast: it is true that at this time more than 500,000 teachers, directors and staff of Ata have been vaccinated, but the case of AstraZeneca batch suspended by Aifa raised the alarm among the school staff. “The vaccine is a great opportunity to get out of this situation and we must face it responsibly, always looking to the general interest. We cannot stop vaccination. It is the weapon to face the covid “, CISL Secretary General Scuola Maddalena Gissi told Orizzonte Scuola.

Hopefully the new vaccine plan It can also help manage the knot of differences between regions currently traveling at different speeds. Although, as we know, a sharp increase in the available doses is necessary.
