An agitated return, yesterday, that of the singer Salt Da Vinci from Procida where the seventieth edition of the Festival del Mar concluded with an applauded concert. He had just stepped on the Caremar hydrofoil that was leaving the island for Naples at 1339, when he was attacked, along with his son, by another passenger. In the dispute that followed, the singer suffered a severe bruise on his jaw and sternum. The son had a split lip. The reason for the attack appears to have been the positioning of the luggage and the presenter Fatima trotta and the showgirl Federica Celio, part of the singer’s artistic company, had placed them in the special trunk, moving some packages that another passenger had previously deposited. He had already attacked the two women hard.
The singer explains: “I intervened calmly but firmly, pointing out that there was no reason to offend the two ladies who had not committed any fault. That is why I invited the man to a more urban behavior. I did not have time to finish the speech that I was literally attacked by this person in a violent way. I received a punch to the jaw and a severe blow to the sternum. My son, who came to my defense, was also punched in the face that broke his lips. Unheard of and unexpected behavior on the part of a person who we later learned was no stranger to similar aggressive behaviors. The event did not end here – continues the artist – because this person who was then a garbage collector in Procida, managed by the Tecra company, has made incredible death threats to me. I know you well, he yelled in my face. I’ll pick you up at home. I’ll shoot you and your whole family. This was witnessed by several members of the hydrofoil crew, including the captain himself, as well as numerous passengers. Two of my assailant’s companions, also present, did not lift a finger to stop him. I am outraged, scared and shocked. And all this just for having tried to defend civilly two offended and vilified women.
Meanwhile, a patrol of the island’s carabinieri, led by Marshal Di Francia, and two men from the Coast Guard had arrived at the dock, which had restored calm. Finally everything in the barracks where mutual complaints occurred. The hydrofoil was finally able to depart with a considerable delay. Sal Da Vinci left for Naples in the early afternoon yesterday. She immediately went to the Vecchio Pellegrini hospital where bruises to the jaw and sternum were reported. The Municipality of Procida, in a press release on Facebook, expressed solidarity with the singer, the family, Fatima Trotta and the entire work group.
