Rovereto is shocked after the incredible tragedy of three days ago: the death of mother and son, sunk with their car in the waters of the Adige in Borgo Sacco.
The two victims, recovered by firefighter divers after a 24-hour search, are Giovanna perzolli, 69 years old (who was driving the car) and her son Michele Tranquillinme, 27, who sat aside.

The police, owners of the investigation, are working together with the experts of the Fire Department in the different hypotheses of the tragic accident in the coordination of the deputy prosecutor Fabrizio De Angelis: maybe a wrong maneuver. Or an illness or a distraction. But it will not be easy to establish the causes. In fact, the car fell into the water at the only point on the embankment road where there are no fences, between Borgo Sacco and the confluence of the Leno.

The alarm occurred in the afternoon, around 4 pm, on December 23. Some passersby had pointed to a car in the river, and there was also a photograph of the half-submerged car. So no more traces.
Hours later, the husband and father of the victims also appeared with the Carabinieri, denouncing the disappearance of the two who had not returned home.

A vast search and rescue operation was immediately launched: first with the means of firefighters, jet skis and rubber boats from the permanent body of Trento also arrived. In action the bodies of the volunteers from Rovereto, Calliano and Mori, who had also used drones, while the day before it was the Nucleo di Trento helicopter that flew over the stretch of the river.

On Christmas Eve, operations resumed at dawn: permanent and volunteer firefighters worked to first identify and then recover the car that fell into the Adige on Wednesday, also with the support of special vehicles and divers also arrived from Venice with an echo sounder. The force of the current, however, did not allow its use and a crane was used to secure the tool so that it was lowered into the water.
They found it six meters deep, pushed by currents half a kilometer from where it sank.

The car was recovered last night – sadly, the two victims were on board. To the 74 year old husband, and the other two children of the couple the unbearable task of recognizing the bodies recovered by the divers.

Last night in the place too the mayor of Rovereto Francesco Valduga, who brought the municipality’s condolences and thanked all the men who participated in the operations.
