We have reached the last act of the first week of the Grande Boucle 2020. Today’s stage, the 153-kilometer Pau-Laruns, actually precedes the first rest day of this Tour de France.. The stage that awaits us will once again see the Pyrenees as the protagonist, although its design is very particular. The track is full of climbs, but they are not positioned in a particularly strategic way. Depending on how the strongest interprets it, anything or absolutely nothing could happen.

ROAD
We start from Pau and after 9.5 kilometers we face the first GPM, a fourth category, the Cote d’Artiguelouve, 2.3 km at 4.5%. From there the track will continue quietly until kilometer 58, when the peloton will reach the entrance to Col de la Hourcère, the longest climb of the day. It is a first category of 11.1 kilometers at 8.6%. After the eyebrow there will be a very short descent and, later, the group will climb again towards Col de Soudet, a third category of 3.8 kilometers at 8.5%. After the mountain grand prix, it will be the turn of a long descent that leads to the flying goal, which is located at kilometer 99. From there the road will rise again slightly for about ten kilometers, then the group will take Col d ‘ Ichère, another third category of 4.2 kilometers at 7%. Once passed, there will only be one obstacle left before the finish line, namely the very tough Col de Marie Blanque, a first category of 7.7 kilometers at 8.6%.. The ideal for those who want to attack, if it were not that 18 kilometers are missing from the front to the goal, of which the last 8 are flat.
ALTIMETRY
AND FAVORITES
The most likely hypothesis is that a getaway will disappear with some excellent climber who has already left the ranking. Runners like Warren Barguil and Marc Soler could try, but so could Julian Alaphilippe and blues Fabio Aru, Davide Formolo and Domenico Pozzovivo. If, on the contrary, the greats of the general classification wanted to get serious, then the center of attention would be on Primoz Roglic, Tadej Pogacar and Nairo Quintana, who yesterday seemed to be the brightest in Peyresourde.
