It costs 30-35 thousand euros per classroom and therefore – Messinese emphasizes – “we had a budget situation that allowed me to carry out this project, because it is not always possible to do it”.

“Now this pandemic it also helped us why stimulated change. Covid-19 should be seen as an opportunity for innovation. Expansion of spaces and at the same time – explains the director – expansion in didactic things get to skills interdisciplinary, because the distancing must not only be the meter of distance, but above all it must be the opportunity to make methodological and didactic innovation ”.

Other interventions in the three places, in addition class division, refer to the expansion of classrooms by demolishing some partitions of the classrooms that have remained empty in recent years due to the decline in enrollment. “I made use of our professors, architects and engineers and I myself am an architect”, says the Director, who designs workspaces for small groups even in the wide corridors of the structures “to be furnished with imagination, even with recycled things, for armchairs. for example, so that the study of disciplines does not necessarily become a ‘bank thing’ ”.

Messinese rejects the binomial ‘school’ and ‘chaos’ that circulates in many media these days, “it is a complex and difficult moment but even talking about chaos seems exaggerated to me”, although it does not hide the difficulties. “We asked for 900 desks and if they don’t come it’s a problem – and on the human resources front – we asked for eight additional non-teaching people, but they only gave us two.” Teachers Chapter: “We are missing 20 teachers to complete the organic plant, in the absence of which, having the workshops we will also use technical-practical teachers, but if there is any absence we will be in difficulty because we no longer have reserves of any kind”. The biggest obstacle in recent months? “Bureaucracy”.
