Villa robbery ends in tragedy in Montecassino, Macerata province, right on Christmas Eve night. Rosina Cassetti, 78, probably died of an illness, after the sudden presence of a burglar in the house where she lived with her husband, Enrico Orazi – owner of an auto parts shop – daughter Arianna and nephew Aeneas. From what has been learned a stranger has her husband in the bathroom and then meets the couple’s daughter, who is slapped and then tied up; it was the latter’s son and nephew of the victim, also at home, who raised the alarm. But the investigators do not rule out that the old woman was murdered.

The rescue

The 118 health workers intervened at the scene and found the woman’s body in the kitchen: They tried to revive her, but to no avail. From a first inspection, no sign of violence would have emerged: hence the hypothesis of a sudden illness, perhaps due to fright. The investigations are entrusted to the carabinieri and coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Vincenzo Carusi, who listened to the victim’s husband and nephew. leaving all hypotheses open. Rosy’s body, as everyone called her, was found in the kitchen, on the first of the two floors of the seized house; a body autopsy was ordered, which could be done as early as this afternoon.

The investigation

During the night the victim’s relatives were heard: her husband, who according to a first account was tied up and locked in the bathroom by the aggressor; the grandson, Enea Simonetti, who upon returning home freed the two relatives and later discovered the lifeless body of his grandmother; the last to leave the carabinieri barracks was Arianna Orazi, daughter of the marriage and mother of Enea, who would have been slapped and also immobilized. When she was released, it was she who raised the alarm by calling 112. At the moment, the investigators do not rule out any hypothesis, not even the murder: the victim may have been suffocated. Neighbors told investigators that, at the time of the robbery, the dogs in the neighboring house were not barking and it appears that the front gate to the Orazi house was not forced.
