After the postponements dictated byCovid emergency 19, with the transposition of EU Regulation 698/2020 the extension of terms to seven months documents on periodic vehicle reviews, driving ratings such as Driver licenses, CQC (Driver’s Qualification Card) and other documents that each country had issued during the health emergency. As of June 4, the new regulation extends by 7 months the revisions due between February 1, 2020 and August 31, 2020. The measure covers all motor vehicles, excluding motorcycles and light trailers.
The novelty implies that these vehicles, whose deadline to submit them for review expires between February 1 and August 31, 2020, will be able to circulate freely through the territory of the EU until March 2021. The European decree needed to be coordinated with Italian regulations . which authorizes the revision of vehicles before July 31, 2020 to circulate until October 31, 2020. It follows that vehicles with review expired Before February 2020, they can only circulate on Italian territory until October 31, 2020 even without having carried out the review. Those with a revision expired in February 2020 (February 29, 2020), can only circulate in Italian territory until October 31, 2020, and in other EU countries until September 30, 2020. Those with a revision that expires between March 31, 2020 and August 31, 2020 can circulate in Italy and other EU countries during the seven months following the deadline.
Vehicles belonging to categories L (mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles), O1 (trailers up to 0.75 t) and O2 (trailers with a mass between 0.75 and 3.5 t) whose inspection expired on July 31, 2020 are excluded from the application of the EU regulation, therefore They can only circulate in Italy until October 31, 2020 without having carried out the required revision. The circular establishes that for driver’s licenses, expired or that expire between February 1 and August 31, 2020, the validity extends for 7 months from the expiration date. In that period, therefore, even if there is formally an expiration date on the license, the holder will be able to circulate throughout the EU up to 7 months after the expiration date.
The results of the measurement more favorable compared to the norm dictated by the Cura Italia decree of March, but holders of driving licenses expiring on January 31, 2020 – a date outside the application of EU legislation – will be able to take advantage of the extension until August 31, 2020.
