The old man who fell off his bicycle did not arrive late yesterday afternoon (Friday, September 18) in Revello. Matteo Sola, 77, from Staffarda, died last night in a hospital in Cuneo, where he had been hospitalized in very serious conditions. The retiree was traveling the provincial highway between Staffarda and Revello, on his electric bicycle when, probably due to a distraction or illness, he skidded and fell. The accident occurred around 6 pm Sola remained on the ground, unconscious. The first to rescue him were a motorist and a farmer who, aboard his tractor, was passing through the road and managed to avoid the cyclist. Therefore, the agricultural vehicle was not involved in the accident as it initially appeared.
The elders’ conditions appeared to be immediately dire. Firefighters, carabinieri and the medical team of 118 from Paesana intervened. Doctors revived the man, before entrusting him to the helicopter for transfer to the Cuneo hospital, in the intensive care unit. However, at night, Matteo Sola’s conditions worsened. The man died within hours of hospitalization.
Matteo Sola lived in Staffarda, where the family was one of the historical owners of a farm belonging to the old Mauritian fund. His brother Roberto and his nephew Davide have been running the Principe bar in Saluzzo for years.
