The Slovenian Prime Minister announced his support for the Hungarian and Polish veto of the Recovery Plan. “Only an independent judicial body can say what the rule of law is, not a political majority,” wrote Janez Jansa in a letter sent on November 17 to the President of the European Council Charles Michel and from which the agency France Presse took a vision.
In the morning, the Hungarian Prime Minister confirmed his country’s veto. With the Recovery Plan, the EU “wants to blackmail those who oppose immigration,” he said, reiterating that “there will be no agreement without objective criteria and the possibility of recourse.” Hungary maintains that once recovery is adopted “there will be no more obstacles to link Member States with immigration support mechanisms.”
