The circle of the Court of Auditors tightens on the collapse of treatments for cancer patients. In the dossier alarms and reprimands of responsibility are heard between the hospital and Alisa
Genoa – After almost a year of investigation, the Prosecutor of the Court of Auditors has closed the circle on the debacle of the radiotherapy machines and is preparing to conclude the investigation of the case. A very serious scandal for him Ligurian Health and especially for those who have had to bear the consequences, cancer patients, forced to be treated elsewhere, in Lombard and Piedmont hospitals, or at the San Paolo di Savona. Nonconformities that the magistrates intend to quantify, to later challenge a tax loss. Investigators point to a dozen senior officials, from the San Martino and Alisa hospitals, whose versions seem to anticipate a rebound of responsibility in the delays.
Having reconstructed a long series of unheard appeals, investigators have isolated two areas of potential liability: early concerns the leaders of the San Martino hospital and the management of outdated and undersized equipment. The second circle, on the other hand, involves Alisa, the regional health procurement center. In this case, the potential liability refers to bid: Why, in front of machines whose age and life expectancy were widely known, such delays accumulate that they caused the interruption of the service?
The judges of the Court of Accounts, headed by prosecutor Claudio Mori, are not the only ones to investigate radiotherapy team of the main hospital in Liguria. The prosecutor Francesco Cozzi has opened a criminal investigation into the matter, hypothesizing the crime of interruption of public service. The same judicial police are working on the file – the Nas carabineros and the finance and economic police unit of the Treasury – but the hypothesis of a possible tax damage it is more solid than the prison, precisely because, although with delays and inconveniences, the service has continued in some way. To reveal the breakdowns of the machinery, the problem in the waiting lists and the consequent migration of Ligurian patients to other places, it was an investigation of the XIX century.
