PS5 is in trouble: 4 million consoles less than expected

[ad_1]

As we approach the arrival of the next generation, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Microsoft are producing their consoles at an ever-increasing rate: PS5 and Xbox Series X | S. Speaking of Sony specifically, though, there seem to be some issues. However, according to a Bloomberg report, Sony will produce around 4 million units less than expected.

The reason? Production issues related to PS5 SoC. Sony has reportedly increased production of the console to meet likely public demand, which is increasing during 2020 (a consequence of the fact that many people are spending more time indoors due to Covid-19).

But unfortunately, “SoC production fell by 50%, thus reducing the production of the new PS5 ″. According to sources at Bloomberg, production is “gradually improving” but not yet at a stable level.

Following this report, Sony shares fell 3.5%, the largest national single-day drop since August. However, this delay in production should affect supplies in 2021, more than at launch.

As we have reported, in fact, Niko Partners analyst Daniel Ahmad reported that Sony has booked 60 flights to deliver the PS5s to the US in time for launch and in sufficient quantity for the fiscal quarter from the end of 2020 to early 2021.

It is not known if the delay in production will have a different impact in different regions or, in other words, if the European launch will actually be simultaneous to that of the United States. Recent rumors suggest that Sony will not simultaneously distribute PS5 worldwide and will give priority to the US market.

Finally, we remind you that tomorrow, at 10:00 p.m. Italian time, Sony will broadcast an event dedicated to PS5 during which we will be able to know the price, the launch date and we will be able to see multiple games in action.

You know that PS5 is already present in Amazon Italy!
