He stabbed his 38-year-old partner and then got into the car, reached the mountains of Pistoia and jumped from a 36-meter-high pedestrian bridge suspended over a cliff. It happened in the afternoon in Vaiano, in the province of Prato, where the woman’s body was found in the couple’s house and in Piteglio, a town in the mountains of Pistoia, where the man committed suicide. The couple had a 2-year-old daughter whom the man had brought to his grandparents before killing her partner.
The investigations
To discover the woman’s body, in via Lavagnini in Vaiano, it was the carabinieri who in the morning had investigated the man’s suicide in Piteglio. When they entered the apartment where the couple lived, they found the woman’s body. It seems that the neighbors did not notice anything and probably the murder that occurred at dawn. Later, the victim’s companion would have gotten into the car and reached the Piteglio suspension bridge, a structure that has become a tourist attraction, which is located about 60 kilometers from Vaiano. In 1990, the suspension bridge was listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in the world. The investigations are coordinated by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Republic Carolina Dini.
