A 16-year-old boy tested positive for Covid and the entire class ended up in quarantine. It happened in a Como institute where the young man living in the Como area and asymptomatic on September 16 was subjected to a swab, the result of which triggered the protocol.
ATS immediately activated the epidemiological investigation through the school. In this case, close contacts are considered to the classmates (26 in total) who have been identified by the ATS operators for the start of the fiduciary isolation that will last 14 days after the last school contact with the positive partner (occurred on the 15th). During this period, students will also be subjected to a swab and only if it is negative, will they be able to resume the attendance of the school community. The positivity emerged after an epidemiological investigation launched on a small friendly group of positive children who did not attend any school community.
According to the protocols, the teachers, except for specific situations of individual risk, are not considered close contacts if they have operated with a surgical mask and observing physical spacing. Therefore, they will be able to continue their work.
The school’s Covid representative was recommended to activate the sanitation of the classroom in question and the common areas frequented by the case. The investigation continues to track other extracurricular contacts in the case and take subsequent public health measures. Health surveillance was also activated throughout the community through general practitioners and family pediatricians in the area.
