The priest participated last Saturday in the celebration of confirmations. ASL is tracking people who were in the church

ALTOPASCIO – The parish priest of Spianate, a village in the municipality of Altopascio, tested positive for coronavirus after a smear. Last Saturday and Sunday the priest officiated the confirmations. Now there is a lot of concern among the candidates, their families and all the faithful who were within the church. To communicate the positivity of the priest, the mayor of Altopascio Sara D’Ambrosio and the ASL Toscana northwest.

In these hours the structure of Hygiene and Public Health of Lucca is managing the situation together with the mayor. As a practice, close contacts to be quarantined are being identified thanks to ongoing epidemiological investigation.

“Since early afternoon – writes Mayor D’Ambrosio – I am on the phone with the ASL to trace the entire chain of contacts and tomorrow the ASL will call all the families that have been affected by the confirmations. This is to understand the degree of contact and then proceed with the swabs: the scan should be done immediately to isolate the virus and assure everyone. ”

In the meantime, it is critical that all who have confirmed (families present in the church) stay home in fiduciary isolation; those with symptoms attributable to the flu call their family doctor immediately. We are rebuilding the chain of contacts also thanks to the people close to the parish priest who are helping us and whom I want to thank from my heart. Tomorrow I will give you more updates, to keep you informed ”, concludes the mayor of Altopascio.
