The death toll from coronavirus is increasing by Sardinia. This Wednesday afternoon, September 23, a 33-year-old young man from Isili, in the south of Sardinia, died in the Santissima Trinità emergency department in Cagliari. His name was Fabio Lecis and he is among the youngest Covid-19 victims on the island. As far as we know, the young arrived in desperate condition at the hospital, with severe respiratory failure and, despite the doctors’ attempts, had nothing to do. The news shocked his city: the thirty-three-year-old would have been the first Isili citizen to contract the virus and, as far as we know, he was one of the first infected this summer in Sardinia. He would have contracted Covid-19 after attending some clubs on the Costa Smeralda. The man was followed home by the Ats, but today his condition has suddenly worsened. Hence the call to 118 and the sadly futile ambulance ride to the hospital, where his heart stopped beating.

There are 49 new positive Covid 19 cases registered in Sardinia in the latest update of the regional crisis unit, 32 detected through detection activities and 17 due to suspected diagnosis. In total, 3,405 infections have been detected since the beginning of the emergency. In the latest update there are more two deaths: a 62-year-old woman, hospitalized in Nuoro and living in the Sassari area, who died on September 21 but only appears in the report today, and a 79-year-old man, hospitalized in Cagliari and residing in southern Sardinia. Currently 100 patients (+4) are hospitalized, while the number of patients in intensive care remains unchanged (21).
