Vatican City – The Pope continues to choose from simple suburban pastors to renew the leadership of the Vicariate. This morning the appointment of the new auxiliary bishop of Rome, Don Darío Gervasi, has been announced until now in the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ Parish, near the Grande Raccordo Anulare, in Casilina, assigning him the titular see of Subaugusta. “I’m excited, happy, and even a little confused.”
Don Gervasi was born in Rome on May 9, 1968. He attended the Roman Major Seminary and was ordained in 1994, studying Dogmatic Theology at the Gregorian. Previously he was assistant parish priest, vice-rector of the Roman major seminary and was in charge of promoting vocations since the trend in Rome has also been negative for years.
The first words
«I am still a little stunned by joy and incredulous, but very happy to be able to stay in the southern sector, to try, together, to serve the Lord Jesus. It is important – he continues – to remember to keep a look of faith. This is true for all of Rome, for everyone; together we can be the face of the Church today, which knows how to face even difficult moments but with a deep spirit of faith, a look that knows how to see beyond appearances ”, were her first words.
Gervasi is destined for the position that Monsignor Gianrico Ruzza, auxiliary bishop of Rome and sent to the diocese of Civitavecchia, held until recently. With Don Gervasi there are six auxiliary bishops: Guerino Di Tora for the North sector, Paolo Selvadagi West, Daniele Libanori Center, Giampiero Palmieri East, Paolo Ricciardi delegate of Pastoral de la Salud and the Ordo Virginum.
