Due to the Covid emergency, Pope Francis will anticipate the Christmas Eve mass in St. Peter’s Basilica, on the night of Thursday, December 24, at 7:30 p.m., two hours before 9:30 p.m. that he always kept in his pontificate.

The ‘Urbi et Orbi’ blessing on Christmas Day at 12.00 has also been modified, which will take place in the Basilica and not from the Central Loggia. The schedules of the Te Deum on December 31, at 5:00 p.m. in the Basilica, of the Masses on January 1 and of the Epiphany, both at 10:00 a.m. always in St. Peter’s, remain unchanged. “Participation in the celebrations will be very limited,” explains the Vatican press office.

The Vatican Press Office also reports that the faithful who participate in the celebrations will be “identified according to the methods used in recent months, in compliance with the protection measures provided and subject to changes due to the health situation.”
