(ANSA) – VATICAN CITY, SEPTEMBER 09 – The Pope today held his second general audience with the presence of the faithful after the months of confinement with the catechesis that was only broadcast via streaming. He arrived at Cortile San Damaso by car wearing a white mask that he took off before leaving. Then he disinfects his hands with gel with the help of his assistant.
In long greetings to the faithful at the barriers, he always kept his distance, even if he personally took letters and gifts from the faithful. He also took a cap from a faithful, put it on his head and gave it back. He blessed images and objects without shaking hands. He also nodded to someone who was getting too close, which was not possible.
At the beginning of the audience, before the catechesis, he invited the faithful to distance themselves to avoid contagion: “Do not pile up, there is a chair for everyone to avoid contagion.” (HANDLE).
