They were found by chance, leaning near a chest of those who used to listen to music, in the computer room of the Madonna dei Braccini primary school in Pontedera. “Teacher, there is an envelope with a lot of money …” pointed out some students. In fact, there were many 50 euro bills inside that white envelope and they were held together by an elastic band against which was placed a piece of paper torn from a page with only one number written on it: 7,000. The teacher asked the didactic direction, other teachers: nobody knew anything about it. So with that mystery in her hands, Cecilia Ceccarelli, 62, an elementary school teacher who is part of the Curtatone and Montanara Comprehensive Institute, went to the police station to say: “We found an anonymous treasure.”
The military tried to investigate, starting with the name printed in the corner of the envelope that informed a dental office: but nothing, there they fell from the clouds. Then the people who had access to the computer room of that school, which is one of the ones in the historic center, were listened to, explains Deputy Mayor Alessandro Puccinelli, and once again, nothing. “Nobody in a year and a half has claimed ownership of that money, nobody has come forward,” continues Puccinelli, admitting that the thing is very suspicious and suggests a black payment, although there is no evidence – let’s be clear -. And then, after the envelope was parked for a year or more in the Pontedera Town Hall safe, as required by law, it has now been returned to the teacher who has become the rightful owner.
