Tragic accident with two deaths late in the morning on the A14 Bologna-Taranto motorway, at the height of the territory of the Municipality of Pesaro. Two elderly people lost their lives at the entrance to the “Foglia est” service area, in the north lane on the section between Fano and Pesaro towards Bologna, in correspondence with the deceleration lane.
The accident involved a car that, according to initial investigations, was about to enter the service area when it violently collided with the “top” of the guardrail that should generally serve as protection.
The car with two spouses of 81 and 82 on board ended up against the cusp of the traffic divider that separates the truck lane from the car lane in the service area. It was shortly after 11:45 today, Friday September 4, when the Suzuki Ignis with the two Como elders on board entered the rest area. Then the impact. The two were returning to the north of their homeland, Abruzzo. They both died instantly.
The alarm went off around 12:30. Medical and mechanical rescuers, firefighters, traffic police patrols and personnel from Section 7 of Pescara Autostrade per l’Italia took part in the scene. The service area is temporarily closed to allow the intervention of the rescue service, while circulation is regular throughout the section.
