Teams working through the night after yesterday morning’s breakout.
(ANSA) – BOLOGNA, DEC 07 – The leak on the Panaro embankment, in the Modena area, which yesterday caused a flood, has been closed. At 8:30 am, four teams coordinated by Aipo technicians closed what in technical jargon is called a ‘route’, 70 linear meters long and thus made the city of Modena safe. The crews worked through the night, with 150 trucks employed carrying 4,500 tons of materials. Now they are working on the final sealing of the embankment.
“It was organized in record time – says the regional councilor for Civil Protection, Irene Priolo – a very complicated construction site due to the logistics of access, the strong current of the river and the weather conditions. I thank Aipo for the punctuality of the interventions that allowed us to avoid the spread of the problem to other territories and to give concrete help to the citizens of Nonantola, our priority.
And a special thanks to the women and men of the Prefecture, the police, the army, the local authorities, the volunteers and operators of the Regional Agency for Territorial Security and Civil Protection, who for two days have worked tirelessly to face a flood never recorded until now ”(ANSA).
