A 10-year-old girl, who was in sixth grade, died after hitting her head while doing physical education. The incident occurred in Palermo, within the Vittorio Emanuele Orlando school located in via Lussembrugo. The student, for reasons to be determined, reportedly slipped and fell backward hitting her head. The first to try to revive it were the teachers. The director immediately called the 118 health workers, but there was nothing to be done for the boy.
Minister Azzolina initiates investigations
The carabinieri of the San Lorenzo company are investigating the incident. The military tries to reconstruct what happened and listen to the teachers and the principal. Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Lucía Azzolina, who expressed “the deepest condolences and pain” and “the greatest closeness to the family”, announced that the Ministry has already started all the necessary investigations.

“It is a dramatic moment, a serious misfortune has occurred and the entire school community adds to the pain of the family. The school was hit by a very serious duel, ”says Virginia Filippone, the school’s principal. “Regarding the methods, dynamics and causes of death, the evaluations of the competent bodies will define them. It is not true – says the manager – that the girl fell in the gym hitting her head: I repeat, the competent bodies will clarify everything about the great pain of the family as well ”.

Even the mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando expressed closeness to the family. “This is a great tragedy that affects the child’s family, the school community and the entire city. I am sure that I interpret the feelings not only of the municipal administration but of all of Palermo, when expressing the closeness of the pain to the family from this little girl, to her teachers and her classmates. ”
