The damage caused by last night’s tornado is enormous. In the skyscraper area, 84 apartments were hit by the fury of the wind
ROSIGNANO MARITTIMO – A whirlwind at 100 kilometers per hour, a veritable tornado that hit Rosignao Solvay last night. The inhabitants are incredulous that it took so few minutes to tear off the roofs of their houses, but it did: 28 families now have their houses uninhabitable, 84 in all the affected apartments, 54 damaged.
The whirlwind hit the Solvay Rowing Club hard, damaging both the restaurant and the geodesic structure where a tennis match was taking place; uprooted or felled many dozen tall trees, damaged numerous vehicles and the mobile structures attached to the rugby field; he also uncovered the roofs of several houses.
Unfortunately, in addition to the damage to personal and real property, there were also 8 injuries: the two most serious people are two tennis players who were on the field of play when the tense structure of the rowing club collapsed. The other six have already been discharged.
The Solvay plant was also affected by the whirlwind, but there was no damage to the plants.
Today and tomorrow we will continue to work to face the emergency: i The firefighters are committed to making temporary roofs, to prevent the rains foreseen for the coming days from causing more damage to the buildings.
Of the 6 people who spent the night in the Picchi gym last night, 2 were taken over by the SEUS – Social Emergency Service and 4 will temporarily stay at the “Villa dei Gerani” pension. The other people who had to leave their homes organized by asking family and friends for hospitality.
