This is the new system contact tracking for the coronavirus developed by Apple and Google, which will soon also reach Android, which can be used in countries where an application similar to Immuni has not been developed.
This system is the result of the joint efforts of the two web giants, which began on April 24 with the publication of a basic system (a “framework“) On which to create contact tracking applications. The Exposure Notification Express is the next step, managed directly by Google and Apple, which is to send notifications to smartphones in case of suspected contact with infected people. All this, however, still requires the intervention of the authorities and is not active by default: the system is in fact based on cryptographic keys, which will be stored on the servers of a public agency. To date, only about twenty countries in the world have already developed complete applications for contact tracing, the rest can trust this system.
Exposure Notification Express – How It Works
Thanks to the new Exposure Notification Express system, iOS 13.7 and later versions will be able to inform people about possible exposure to Covid-19 even on the iPhone not installed a specific application for contact tracing, but only if the functionality will be implemented by the health authorities.
In fact, everything is based on a configuration file notifications, which may vary from one country to another and will be managed by the authorities. In practice, governments that want to use Exposure Notification Express will only have to choose the file settings and make the servers available for encrypted data. Each country will also be able to choose which communications to send to users in case of suspected exposure to the virus.
Immune no longer necessary?
Many will wonder, at this point, if they can uninstall the Immune since this system performs more or less the same task. The answer is no, because Exposure Notification Express is not activated if there is already a tracking application on the mobile phone and, above all, if it is not supported by the authorities.
Immuni also performs more tasks than Exposure Notification Express, it is the technical choice made by the Italian government and cannot be replaced by the system “generic”Offered by Apple and Google.
