In the end, the announced ordinance came out proving even more rigid than expected, based on updated data on infections in Taranto. With a new provision, valid from tomorrow, November 13 until next December 3, Mayor Rinaldo Melucci has launched a series of measures to counter the growth of the Covid-19 infection.
Ordinance n. 75, signed today by the mayor, provides for restrictions that integrate the provisions of the Dpcm of last November 3, intervening especially in the opening hours of shops and in the use of some public areas.
From 18 to 5, therefore, the closure of all stores and 24-hour vending machines is expected, excluding food stores, tobacconists, gas stations, pharmacies and parapharmacies. At the same time, all professional activities that require the presence of clients are suspended, with the exception of health and paramedics. In addition, from Friday to Sunday, always from 6 to 5, some sections of via D’Aquino and via Di Palma and the Maria Immacolata, della Vittoria, Giovanni XXIII, Garibaldi, Bettolo, Medaglie d’Oro, Sicilia, Masaccio squares will be closed and Lo Jucco. The prohibition of consuming food and drink on public land is maintained throughout the day.
All municipal parks will also be closed (only commercial activities within them remain open), except for the most fragile citizens as indicated by the ASL.
For local and weekly markets, and for cemeteries, a follow-up week begins with respect to the correct application of the measures provided for by the Dpcm: if violations occur, more restrictive measures will be taken.
“These measures will help us reduce the numbers of contagion – explained the mayor – but we have already prepared a resolution of the board that contains actions to support citizens who will suffer hardships from the virus.”
