Nurse of the Covid-19 ward commits suicide during the shift: she was 37 years old

A 37-year-old nurse took her own life in the room where she had been battling Covid-19 for some time.

The news came a few weeks ago, but it was only now known: the young professional worked in a well-known Lombard public health company, in a coronary intensive care unit converted into a Covid-19 room with the advent of the pandemic.

He took his own life in the living room bathroom during the work shift. He was found by a colleague who was suspicious of his long absence. The body was found with a venous access to the arm and an empty saline bottle. Just a few days ago, the Judicial Power, dismissing the case, established that the man voluntarily took his own life: he left a wife and a 3-year-old son.

The nurse had repeatedly asked for help from the territorial psychiatric service, due to the stress accumulated in recent months and the induced depressive syndrome.

His colleagues speak of a clear worsening with the massive return of Covid-19 cases, starting in the fall.
