BUSSOLENO (TURIN). Dana Lauriola, 38, spokesperson for the Turin Askatasuna social center and historical activist No Tav, was taken to prison by warrant for a demonstration eight years ago at the Avigliana tollbooth. A measure announced days ago, after the Turin Court rejected all requests for alternative measures. Digos agents caught up with her around 6 am at her home in Bussoleno, in the Susa Valley, where a group of No Tav activists had organized a permanent garrison for a few days. Brief moments of tension in the San Lorenzo roundabout, where some forty militants from No Tav and ‘Aska’ protested against the arrest, blocking a Digos car. Officers from the mobile department responded with a lightning charge. Two activists were slightly injured.
The measure, carried out today, is the result of a sentence that has remained firm, to 2 years in prison for a demonstration in 2012 at the Fréjus motorway toll, when a hundred protesters had damaged the video surveillance system and blocked the gates of the toll booth with adhesive tape, so that motorists could pass without paying the toll. There have been insults to police and threats to tolls.
Dana Lauriola had participated as a speaker, correcting a complaint of violence, then reached all levels of judgment.
A report from Digos, which has reconstructed the protest activities in which Dana Lauriola has participated in recent years, also influences the decision. Dozens of episodes are listed. Above all, actions against Tav’s work but also other disputes in the square in which the Corso Regina Margherita social center was the protagonist.

Also this morning, the Carabinieri from the Susa police station arrested Stefano Milanesi, 63, for resisting a public official on September 17, 2015 during a stone-throwing at the police at the Chiomonte construction site. Milanesi, who received an execution order, must serve five months of house arrest. In the eighties it was part of a Prima Linea column that had created its base in the Susa Valley.
The arrests of these hours have elicited various reactions not only from the antagonist galaxy, but also from the political world. Various acts of solidarity of the 5 Stars Movement. Regional councilor Francesca Frediani, who has always opposed Tav, speaks on Facebook of “a very serious injustice”. Five-star senator Alberto Airola calls Dana’s arrest an “abomination.” You go to jail and Formigoni to house arrest with permission to campaign, with a conviction for corruption. Airola appeals to the head of State Sergio Mattarella, also in the role of president of the CSM: “Enough with this magistracy controlled by politics.” Solidarity with Dana also from the vice president of the Turin City Council, the grillina Viviana Ferrero. “I never thought it would go this far. Unjust laws such as unjust political sentences must be fought by jurists ”.
This morning, at the Palace of Justice in Turin, on the occasion of the resumption of the maxi trial against the No Tav for the clashes in the summer of 2011 in the Susa Valley, the defendants today delivered a statement of solidarity with the detainees . The events refer to the eviction, on June 27, of the No Tav maxi garrison in the La Maddalena di Chiomonte area, where the railway yard is located today, and to the violence that took place on the following July 3.
