No show, the regions silence Conte – Il Tempo

Giuseppe Conte wanted to sign and illustrate the new dpcm last night. But he was unable to host the usual television show Italians are used to. He was forced to postpone it due to the tensions of the majority and under pressure from the Regions that strongly opposed some of the restrictions included in the decree.

Let’s start with the Regions, which after meeting with the Minister for Regional Affairs, Francesco Boccia, sent a letter to the government asking for numerous setbacks. First of all, the governor of the Emilia Romagna Region, as well as the President of the Conference of Regions, Stefano Bonaccini, calls for the commitment to recognize a suitable snack for the sectors most affected by the anti-Covid squeeze in the provision. The governors, among other things, also ask to rethink the planned closures for bars and restaurants, not to close the ski resorts and to rub only the symptomatic and cohabitants of those who have the virus. Regarding schools, the letter requires “the extension of distance education to 100% (and not 75% as the government would like, ed) for upper secondary schools and universities.” Then, “for the work of the Local Health Authorities to be sustainable,” says the letter, the swabs (molecular or antigenic) should only be used for symptomatic patients and close contacts (relatives and partners). ” Also, for restaurants, the request is “to anticipate closing time at 11 PM, with table service only (and not at 6 PM, Ed)”, while for bars “at 8 PM, Except for businesses that can guarantee table service. ” Not only that, the governors would also like to “eliminate the obligation to close on Sundays.” The regions also propose closing shopping malls on weekends, except for grocery stores and pharmacies.

Finally, the letter draws the attention of the government to the need to evaluate closures related to gyms, swimming pools, sports centers, cinemas and theaters, also taking epidemiological data into account.
Disagreements, however, are not lacking in even the majority, with Italia Viva strongly opposing the stop at 18 restaurants. There are those who propose the time of 20, but for now it is convenient to confirm the rule. The proposal is to extend the time until 11 at night, as the governors also request.
To the group leaders of the majority and the opposition, Conte did not hide his concerns about the increase in infections. We must act quickly – this is the prime minister’s reasoning – the contagion rate is above 1.5%. If we do not act now, we run the risk that the situation in November will spiral out of control. Hence the acceleration that led to the meeting early in the afternoon with the heads of the government delegations, with Minister Bellanova who reiterated Italia Viva’s opposition to the planned lockout for the premises and spoke out against the touch of remains.

Then there’s the duration aspect of the new rules, which could remain valid until November 24. As for the activities that will be sanctioned by the dpcm, a snack is probably already planned on Monday with a special decree. The prime minister will come to Parliament, probably on Tuesday, to illustrate the measures. Yesterday morning, during the national assembly of the ANC, he tried to reassure him precisely on the issue of compensation, assuring that they will be “more efficient and faster, to offer relief to economic operators in difficulty.” He added: “The next few weeks are going to be very complex. Let’s not lower our guard.
