It was probably thrown from a window on the second floor of a building shortly after the birth of the newborn found dead in Roccapiemonte, in the Salerno area, late yesterday afternoon. The child was found with the umbilical cord still attached. The head injury that was immediately found by the coroner was likely fatal. The small lifeless body of the child was found yesterday, shortly after 7 pm, near a hedge that separates the building from the garages, by an old man who then called the carabinieri.
The soldiers of the Mercato San Severino company identified and detained the pair of parents who lived on the second floor in a few hours. According to initial reports, there was still blood in the house and the 42-year-old woman was visibly shocked. Neither of us would say a word. The 47-year-old man was taken to prison. The woman is being kept in the hospital. The reason for the gesture is still unknown. Many of the neighbors did not know that the woman was expecting a baby, but all agreed that she had mental health problems. The couple also had another 17-year-old son who was placed in the care of her grandparents. In the next few hours, the forensic doctor Giuseppe Consalvo will carry out an autopsy that could provide useful information for investigation purposes.
