New Yorker suspended co-worker Jeffrey Toobin for masturbating during Live Zoom

The American Weekly New Yorker suspended Jeffrey Toobin, its legal analyst and commentator, pending clarification of the allegation that he masturbated during a business call on Zoom, the popular video conferencing app, in early October. Toobin said Monday that he had “made a stupid and embarrassing mistake” and believed it was “off screen.” He then apologized to his wife, family, friends and colleagues. Toobin explained that he was convinced that he had disabled the video function and that no one during the call could see him.

Toobin is one of the best known legal analysts in the US media. Work for him New Yorker for more than 25 years and is also a legal analyst at CNN, who issued a statement explaining that Toobin “has requested a vacation period to address a personal matter.” The call during which Toobin was allegedly masturbating was a video conference between the analyst and some employees of the New Yorker and WNYC, a New York radio station.
