New Year’s weather, then Befana: Cold, Frost, Snow

We put Christmas aside not because everything was canceled, no, we put it aside because the dynamics of the strongly winter weather of the next 72 hours is widely confirmed. Now room for details, which as usual will be highlighted in forecast articles.

Here we already project more, we are trying to understand what could happen between the end of 2020 and the first ten days of January. Because after the quick Christmas Arctic puncture we will have to watch very carefully, in addition to natural curiosity, the Arctic storm that will hit Western Central Europe. What will be the effects in Italy?

Hard to say, except that in northern Italy the opportunities for widespread snowfall should multiply. But for the other regions, much will depend on the real inclination of the depression axis, in turn closely linked to the resistance of the oceanic anticyclonic block. It seems, the conditional is essential, that the cold air is able to spread towards the east and in doing so, clearly, it would involve all of Italy.

Snowfall can be abundant in the mountains, but locally also in the hills. This, for the moment, is the forecast but we cannot hide it: it remains reserved.

After that, when we get close to Befana, the dynamics of the Polar Vortex could further exacerbate winter conditions. Yes actually could freeze, the real, the continental, the one capable of making snow on the coasts. The Vortex could split, but cold air could penetrate Europe even with a simple, so to speak, weakening. We will see, surely we are preparing to live a very exciting stage. Whether you like the destination or not, between now and mid-January we will see some good ones.
