SITUATION. Disturbed currents continue to flow from the Atlantic, into which disturbances flow into the central Mediterranean and Italy, resulting in sometimes unstable weather conditions. One of them reached the northwestern regions and Sardinia on Friday, causing a aggravating that on Saturday morning it spread to Lombardy, Emilia and Tuscany, generating rain and scattered showers, with snowfall even at fairly low altitudes. Snow fell up to 600 m in the western Alps, sometimes to the bottom of the Aostano valley, 800 m in the Apennines of Emilia, even if it was generally weak phenomena. Instead, an old frontal system remains in the extreme south, still dumping some rain in Tyrrhenian Calabria and northern Sicily, now on the brink of exhaustion. This is how the situation will evolve during the day:
WEATHER THE NEXT HOURS. While the old frontal system will definitely let the south go, the new one will continue to advance to the southeast, pivoting with minimal pressure in the middle Tyrrhenian Sea. One will follow improvement of the climate in the northern regions, with bright spots alternated with residue densities in Emilia Romagna and Levante Ligure where some rain will persist into the afternoon, or light snowfall in the Apennines from 600 / 800m. Heavy and light snowfall even on the alpine borders from about 800 m. Moving south, the disturbance will affect the main islands and regions of the Tyrrhenian instead. While in the peninsular areas it will be limited to some rain on the coasts of Tuscany and Lazio, fading at night, on the larger islands it will be more incisive, with rains and showers in Sardinia and in central-west Sicily, at the end of the day also in lower Calabria. On the other hand, clear in the south-central regions of the Apennines, Adriatic and Ionian, but with a tendency to increase cloudiness at night in Marche Abruzzo and Molise. Tense Mistral ventilation on the main islands, even strong in the Sardinian Sea. For all the details go to the section Time in Italy. For the forecast for Sunday click here.
