New Dpcm, closing at 11pm and curfew: the new regulations

The virus does not slow down, on the contrary, it runs its course. The number of new infections is dangerously close to the threshold of 3,000 a day, the same exciting numbers recorded in the worst months of the emergency. The 2,844 cases yesterday worry Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, who will meet tomorrow with the ministers also to evaluate whether containment measures should be further tightened. The Decree containing the new rules will be ready on October 7. And some measures already decided seem to set the country back by six months. Because the intensive care situation is currently under control, but the Ministry of Health has taken into account that the curve will rise again in the coming weeks. And, therefore, a new squeeze, but also the decision to ask Parliament to extend the state of emergency until January 31.

Army control

The obligation to wear a mask in closed places, frequent hand washing, a safe distance and the prohibition to meet will be confirmed. But it was decided to strengthen surveillance especially in nightlife venues and at all meeting points. For this reason, as happened in March, Interior Minister Luciana Lamorgese has planned to use the soldiers involved in the “Safe Roads” operation to carry out the controls.

Closed at 11pm

A general lockdown is currently ruled out. On the other hand, if infections were to increase again, new limitations on personal freedom are possible in limited areas of the country, to extinguish new outbreaks. Among the measures being considered is that of closing the premises at 10 or 23 hours before, a kind of “curfew” to prevent nightlife from promoting the transmission of the virus, as happened in the summer months. But there is still no official decision on the schedules. The other issue that the ministers will surely address is that of the private sector, which according to the experts of the Scientific Technical Committee should be regulated and limited in number.
The entrances to the stores will always be limited according to the space, the restaurants must respect the distance and the discos will remain closed.

Stadiums and shows

A delicate step refers to the limitation of the public outdoors and indoors. The presidents of the regions, with their ordinances, have loosened the limits imposed by the last decree and the government is determined to settle a squeeze, which will concern entertainment, sports and more. Abroad, it will not be possible to gather more than a thousand people at once, strictly spaced: a measure that concerns street demonstrations, but also sports. The football government does not change its mind, the limit of stadiums is still 1,000 spectators. Inside (cinemas, theaters, concert halls) it will be strictly forbidden to exceed the limit of 200 people and this measure also applies to private initiatives, such as weddings. The reduction of seats in theaters worries those inside. Agis wrote to Conte and Minister Franceschini, asking that they not receive “a sector already seriously affected by the pandemic”
