Naples, ATM “spits” 980 euros: collects them and takes them to the police

Unexpected event, on the day of “Santo Stefano”, in via Foria, in Naples, for a 51-year-old man who, during a walk through the historic center of the city, noticed that the ATM in front of which he was passing was “going out “50 and 20 euro bills.

He, recovered from his astonishment, did not hesitate for a moment: after picking them up, he went to the offices of the Vicaria Maercato police station and handed over 980 euros to the agents. The protagonist of the story is Khalil semmah, 51 years old, Italian of Moroccan origin, married and with a son who attends the University.

“We live in a small house – says his wife – my son was studying for an exam and decided to go for a walk so as not to disturb him.” The agents of the Vicariate Market Police Station carried out a control at the site: there were no signs of forced entry or mission hand at the ATM. Investigators, having notified the bank’s management and the supervisory institution, are trying to understand whether the malfunction was the result of an attack by hackers.
