Movements prohibited from December 21 to Epiphany. At Christmas and New Years everyone at home

Trip out of town at Christmas, maybe in the second house? No way. The government signed last night, December 2, the decree that prohibits travel during the Christmas holidays. A ban to be enforced from December 21 to January 6. Health Minister Speranza is firm on the point: “Without strict measures during the holidays, we will find in February a third wave worse than the second.”

This means that in that period any movement in and out between the territories of different regions or autonomous provinces within the national territory will be prohibited. Therefore, from December 21 to January 6 it will no longer be possible to move even between yellow regions, for example from Molise to Lazio or vice versa. Below the map currently in place, which however could change as of tomorrow, Friday, December 4.

Tighten more for the days of December 25 and January 1, when any movement between municipalities is also prohibited, “except for displacements motivated by proven work needs or situations of need or for health reasons.”

For many Molisanos this will mean spending Christmas in the north (where many of them live to study or work). No, because it has also been established that however, the return to one’s residence, domicile or home is allowed. What is not allowed are trips to second homes located in another region or autonomous province – and on January 25, 26 and 1, even in those located in another municipality.

However, there is a substantial difference for the regions in the so-called yellow belt, and therefore also for Molise. Those who live in these regions, marked by a moderate risk in relation to the epidemic, will be able to move freely from December 4 to 20 cross regional borders going to other regions, provided they are in the yellow stripe, and therefore they will be able to travel freely on the occasion of the Immaculate Conception.

For today, however, the signing of the Christmas decree on dinners and guests, curfews, restaurants, shops and ski slopes, returns from abroad and more is expected.
